Set timning have glowing manifolds   (Technical Discussion & Questions - by Johan, started: 06-03-2016, last post: 2024-03-02 10:52:45 CET)
Have an 87 coupe with v6, had an iron duke before. Now I’m trying to set timing, if I short a and b and set timing 10 degrees, it goes to 20 degrees when I remove the paperclip. The idle is 1500 with warm engine. Why does the ecm put another 10 degrees on the timing? If I align distributor so the...

Possible vacuum leak/ glowing manifolds/ hissing noise   (Technical Discussion & Questions - by SemperFi18, started: 09-28-2016, last post: 2016-09-28 10:00:48 CEST)
Alright guys, so to get things started she's an 86 SE V6. I'm a decent mechanic but new to the fiero world and for the life of me can't figure this one out. I replaced my valve cover gaskets. Everything went well, I cleaned the throttle body, replaced all gaskets on the build back up. Including the...

New 3.4 Build, HIgh Idle on Startup & Glowing Manifold   (Archive: TD&Q - by Duck Hunter 117, started: 08-03-2012, last post: 2016-03-23 10:12:09 CET)
I'm attempting to get my new 3.4 build up and running and am having some issues. When I first started up it had a high idle at ~2200 rpm. Every little bit it will pick up speed and jump to ~2400 and then slowly come down. The EGR tube was cracked so I installed a block off plate for it. The idle...

Glowing manifolds, idling problem solved (follow up to previous post)   (Archive: TD&Q - by Nosferatu187, started: 11-06-2009, last post: 2011-05-02 10:43:37 CEST)
Just posting this in case it might help someone else. After checking everything I could think of I did the reset procedure for the IAC. Started the engine with the IAC unplugged, I noticed the exhaust manifolds no longer glowed and the idle was actually smoother. I had already checked the IAC/TB...

Glowing manifolds + arcing plug wires ?   (Archive: TD&Q - by moleman_in_a_FieroGT, started: 03-25-2007, last post: 2009-02-19 10:45:57 CET)
I fired my Fiero up last night, let it idle for a few minutes, and... the rear exhaust manifold was glowing. Not much, but enough to trouble me. While observing it, I also saw that there's arcing going on with the spark plugs (or wires). What could cause these problems? Thanks in advance

Glowing manifolds and timing   (Archive: TD&Q - by triker, started: 06-05-2006, last post: 2007-03-15 11:33:29 CET)
I know this subject comes up from time to time but, after doing a search and not seeing this mentioned, thougth I'd post this info. Yesterday when I fired my 3.4L after getting the new cam in it, my manifold got cherry red. I'd brought the rpm up to the 1800-2000 range and was trying to play with...

Hi, I`m posting this because once a Fiero owner like my self or others fixes their high idle issue, the other problem of Red Glowing Manifolds seems to be forgotten.I have 3 x-- 2.8 Fieros, all the manifolds glow---but this is while setting still --and holding rpms to 2500--3000rpms ---which would...

Glowing Manifolds causes   (Archive: TD&Q - by Dennis LaGrua, started: 05-28-2005, last post: 2006-02-06 11:47:09 CET)
I was working on my 2.8L GT this afternoon trying to find the cause of the red hot manifolds. This is usually the cause of lean mixtures and/or clogged exhaust. So far:Checked for clogged exhaust- flows fine and the CAT is hollowVacuum Leak- EGR tube seems in one piece, but still checking all...
