Just replaced the shift cable in our '86 2.5 5-speed. Will need a select cable soon, but for now,... Anyway, my Chilton's manual (I know) says the shifter and transmission should be in first gear to set the alignment pins and everything else. But looking at the shifter with the pins in place, it...

Man! It's been a busy day of wrenching on the '84 at the Miller house. But we racked up many minor victories, to include: headlights go up AND down now; restored the power/lighter plug operation; installed a radio and discovered a previous owner had removed the dash speakers. But in the process, I...

Is there a secret on how to adjust the automatic shifter back into proper alignment? I seem to be out by a gear and the shifter won't go all the way down to 1.
