Headlight motor repair 1988

Been awhile since I repaired a motor and can't remember how to get the gear out to replace those 3 pins, I'm trying to fix the passenger side, do I have to remove the armature/brushes, or by taking the cap off the gear can I remove it, seems to be stuck.
