I'm doing a carb conversion for my 4.9 swapI know that I need the 4.5 distributor but I do not know the exact model of guts I need for it. I think it may be the distributor from the early 80's 4.1 but I need a distributor that operates without the ECM. and uses a vacuum advance. Can anyone assist?...

Are the Pontiac transport axles with Fiero manual ends still the easiest setup to use or has somebody found another type yet?Also,Pontiac Transport,Oldsmobile Sillouette,Chevy Lumina,are the axles all the same???Dragon1/Brian

caddy 4.9 questions

anyone running a Caddy 4.9 with a CARB ? was wondering since the caddy bolts to the 125 (it does, doesn't it ?), if someone didn't want to run all new computer & wires.... anyone running a non computer 4.9 ? any BAD (weak links) to this engine ?) Thanks

4.9 With Manual Getrag --- Air in the cooling system

There is "air" in the cooling system. I am not sure what it is. I suspect exhaust gaz.There is enough pressure built to push the coolant out of the system thru the overflow bottle plug. Top of the radiator was hot while the bottom stays cool. I pulled out the engine and went directly to the head...

So i bought a 4.9. I got a rebuild motor with 56k original miles and 2k after the rebuild. It was built up by the guy that owns the wrecking yard for his mom, but she got T-boned so he parted it out.
