85GT 4spd Shifter adjustment?

is it really hard to adjust the tranny cables on the four speed manual transmission? its a bit hard to find the gears and i was told to have the cables adjusted and i dont want to bring it to a shop if i can do it myself.

Missing shifter adjustment bolt

I did a search and came up with a few hits for the getrag and the 4-speed procedure. What is the correct procedure for the isuzu? One said to put the shifter in 1st, one said 3rd, the haynes says to put itin neutral and pull it all the way to the left. Whats right?
