Can somebody please explain, why aren't more of you guys using Ecotec? A bone stock Ecotec 2.0 turbo has phenomenal performance 260 hp / 260 lb-ft torque + it is light weight..I also read that the motor can easily be pushed to well over 800 hp . To me it makes perfect sense....or am I missing...

Technically, and usually, I'd dump this in the tech discussion section. But here's the deal:I suck at welding. I've done exhausts. I trust my exhausts to not leak. But I don't trust my welds to hold anything structural at all. Period. Ever. And here's where my post comes in here at the General...

SD4 or ECOTEC for long term project?   (Technical Discussion & Questions - by mckaymotoworks, started: 06-19-2014, last post: 2014-06-24 02:15:39 CEST)
I like the idea of having a true Pontiac engine that has the capabilities the SD4 offers. I have considered the ECOTEC, but nostalgia pulls me towards the SD4 as not many cars are on the road with such, as with many custom builds, people enjoy the "I have it and you don't" factor. From what I have...

Ok I picked up an ecotec from an 05 grand am. That literally has 5,000 miles on it. It came from a kid who works at a local dealership. Hes had the engine for 8 years now.. he said it was a brand new car person hit a rock and busted the pan. (Which it did) insurance company paid to have the engine...

Ecotec turbo swap   (General Fiero Chat - by jediperk, started: 04-30-2014, last post: 2014-05-07 23:50:05 CEST)
Ok, I did a forum search and got nothing. So, has anyone swapped in the ecotec turbo from a 2008 and up COBALT SS/REDLINE/HHR SS? I had a 2008 Cobalt SS Turbo while stationed in Germany and kept thinking that would be the ultimate engine swap in a Fiero. The combination of light weight and 400HP/TQ...

Ecotec Swap- why so few?   (General Fiero Chat - by craigtbone, started: 11-27-2013, last post: 2013-11-29 20:58:24 CET)
I suppose that I am really showing my ignorance here but as I ponder what to do with my ’88 Duke with a blown head gasket I find myself dreaming of an engine swap.Over the past few years as I thought about engine swaps I keep coming back to the Ecotec as the perfect engine for the Fiero (for me)....
