Temp gauge pegs out   (Technical Discussion & Questions - by Eliredandblack, started: 11-23-2019, last post: 2019-11-24 20:01:02 CET)
On my 88 GT the Temp Gauge pegs out one the car is started. The PO showed me how to tap the gauge with your hand, and it will drop to a normal reading. Is the gauge broken, or the sending unit bad? I have only driven the car 15 miles and did not experience any overheating problems.

Hey all,has anyone ever had this issue before, instead of pegging out in the hot direction my temp gauge pegs and gets stuck in the cold direction, tap the dash and it comes down and then registers fine for the time you are running and driving that day then let it sit overnight and does it again.

I recently took an 84 2.5 iron duke mated with and auto trans and swapped it with a 86 2.8 mated with a 4 speed trans. I'm pleased with the results because everything works like it should except for the two things listed. Like the title says oil pressure gauge pegged when off, key on, and started....
