Hey all,has anyone ever had this issue before, instead of pegging out in the hot direction my temp gauge pegs and gets stuck in the cold direction, tap the dash and it comes down and then registers fine for the time you are running and driving that day then let it sit overnight and does it again.

I have a 3.4 DOHC in my 86 and am using the single wire (temperature only) sending unit that came with the engine. Since I do not need the temperature warning light bulb test feature on startup, can I just snip the wire that erroneously feeds 12V to the gauge on startup? I see no need to swap wires...

Did the temp. gauge fix and I zeroed the gauge by unplugging the sender and turning the key to on. The gauge does not peg anymore but it still moves a bit. So now when the car is off the needle is to the left of the 100* but once I turn it to on the needle goes to 100*. Is this right?? Another...

Had to drive Dad's '94 Astro van the other day and his temp gauge pegs on startup...I thought we were the only ones ?At least GM is consistent.
