Not your usual headlight motor problem.   (by Rsvl-Rider, started: 11-29-2014, last post: 2014-12-01 15:07:21 CET)
OK, a few days ago my driver side headlight stopped working on my 88 GT. The passenger side works perfectly. With the hood raised up the headlight would try to go up but would fail to go all the way. It would fall back and then try again a few times until it gave up. I tried using the manual...

1st gen headlight motor question   (by cbdallas, started: 10-23-2020, last post: 2020-10-24 17:11:16 CEST)
Hey guys, tried my hand at rebuilding an '86 headlight motor with Rodney's gear kit. Got it back together, and verified it runs, then installed it in the headlight bucket, and operated it by hand. The "closed" position finger isn't moving to actuate the limit switch, no matter how tightly I...

Gen. 1 Headlight Motor issue   (by hdryder, started: 01-10-2016, last post: 2016-01-11 00:30:44 CET)
The passenger side headlight motor is getting energized, with no key in the ignition, as soon as I connect the single blue wire round connector. Also, I can only use the manual open turn knob with this same single blue wire round connector disconnected. After I manually open the headlight with the...

84 Headlight motor freaking out   (by maxalator, started: 08-02-2022, last post: 2022-08-02 17:18:38 CEST)
I drove my Fiero around this morning and had put the headlights back down only to come outside later and find a motor constantly spinning. Does anyone know the cause of this? Do I need to rebuild the motor due to internals being worn? The headlights still go up but when I have the battery...

Upgrading from Gen 1 to Gen 2 headlight motors may not be that hard   (by Dennis LaGrua, started: 11-17-2020, last post: 2020-12-22 20:02:25 CET)
While they are two different systems the motors are mechanically interchangeable (they bolt right in) but the wiring is different. You would need the motors, the 87-88 headlight module and a bit of rewiring time. I found the diagram below from an old link to the Fierolist via the Calgary Fieros...

Drivers side 88 headlight motor removal?   (by deezil, started: 09-23-2015, last post: 2015-09-23 15:43:56 CEST)
I see this write up on how to pull the whole assembly below in the link. Can you not pull the motor just by itself or does the entire assembly have to come out when rebuilding the motor? I'd like to tackle this job when I get home from work.http://www.fiero.nl/forum/A...060811-2-066668.html

Headlight motor... alternatives?   (by Corvus, started: 09-11-2013, last post: 2018-11-18 01:58:47 CET)
So the motor is starting to go out on one of my headlights and I've been thinking, is there any way to replace them with something that goes a lot faster? If you watch Miata pop-up headlights they are quite quick. Would installing Miata actuators (or something similar) be difficult?Has anyone done...

Gen.1 headlight motors higher voltage testing to speed them up. Anybody tried this?   (by cebix, started: 01-31-2018, last post: 2018-02-01 17:08:06 CET)
Just a thought here, maybe totally unnecessary.Has anyone tried running these motors with higher voltages as an experiment to see how much faster can they go without failing?I thought of experimenting with this myself but I don't have any spare motors and would hate to ruin mine.

Headlight Motor Keeps Running   (by tgcarls, started: 02-05-2024, last post: 2024-02-05 23:11:52 CET)
First off, thank you for all the advice on the other questions I have had. Here is my latest question. My 86 GT sat for 10 years, when I put a fresh battery in it the headlights would work but would not pop up. Before learning that I needed to replace the isolation relay to fix that issue, shortly...

Firebird Headlight Motors in Fiero?   (by Zoeyroni, started: 09-09-2019, last post: 2019-09-15 00:59:00 CEST)
Hello! So my passenger side headlight motor has kicked the bucket and I'm in need of a new one, I've heard from here and there that 82-86 Firebird motors work in the 84-86 Fiero assemblys, is this true? If so what all is needed to install one in a Fiero assembly? I'm going with a Firebird motor...
