4.9 Conversion - Need some expert advice.
(Archive: TD&Q - by jackcastro, started: 04-14-2012, last post: 2016-03-23 10:13:21 CET)
Hi, I have an 88 GT with a 4.9 conversion and need to know the specifications for the water hose (coolant) coming from the engine, just in top of the A/C compressor. I bought the car already converted. I know that most likely it is not the original Cadillac hose, and would appreciate very much if...

What are the limits of the 4.9?
(Archive: TD&Q - by RCR, started: 10-30-2002, last post: 2003-05-31 09:51:42 CEST)
I've been reading a lot on engine swaps and the 4.9 looks promising. Coming from an F-body background, all my experience is with the 305 and 350. What I've seen is that the 4.9 makes lots of torque (relatively speaking), but tops out at about 4800RPM. What is the limiting factor here, ie runner...

(Archive: TD&Q - by Manic Mechanic, started: 07-30-2002, last post: 2002-11-04 12:09:20 CET)
Hello everyone, I'm starting to get serious about a caddy swap, but there are a few things that I can't seem to track down. I basically have in my position an entire 1990 caddy with a 4.5 liter motor. I'm planning on rebuilding this motor before putting it into my car. So I was cooking the books...

(Archive: TD&Q - by Elenor84, started: 07-03-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 13:37:37 CET)
Ok, So first question, just to make sure I'm on the right track. This is a picture of the fuse block for the engine. The wires that have X's on them go to the inside of the car which was cut so I seperated them and tied them off. The wires with the arrows pointing to them are the ones that come...

Allante intake for 4.9 -- What years??
(Archive: TD&Q - by FierOmar, started: 04-13-2004, last post: 2004-10-15 10:19:27 CEST)
It is my understanding that the Allante intake will add some additional power to the F.I. 4.9. What model years should I look for if I want to add the Allante intake to a 4.9 conversion. Also, from what I have seen, the intake manifold is somewhat different as well; so, am I correct that I would...

(Archive: TD&Q - by Psychosis39, started: 06-06-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 13:40:42 CET)
I feel like a little kid with a new toy. The great men from I-55 autosalvage ended up dropping off my 4.9 motor. It his a motor that runs real nice and purrs like a kitten for having 152k highway miles on the clock. With the engine out of the car it looks like it was taken care of and not horribly...
