Where to buy 3.1 kit?   (Archive: TD&Q - by Cooter, started: 06-08-2003, last post: 2004-02-23 13:40:40 CET)
I need to rebuild a 2.8 into a 3.1 and will need the crank, pistons and all the goodies for a 'normal' (stock rebuild) engine. Anybody know the most economical place to start looking? Thanks!

3.1 swap   (Archive: TD&Q - by DZ, started: 11-19-2002, last post: 2003-05-31 09:52:30 CEST)
I found an 88 Grand Am with 6 cylinder and a 4 speed auto. It is running. Can I transfer this engine and trans into an 88 coupe without a big problem. I don't need it to have the fiero intake, I just want a 6 instead of a 4. Would it be best to use the 4 speed auto or the auto from the Fiero? ...

I have heard of people using 3.1 parts in the 2.8 to increase torque & Hp. What is the process in this/ what parts do you swap?[This message has been edited by beelizard (edited 01-01-2003).]

Stroking 2.8 -> 3.1 as cheap as possible?   (Archive: TD&Q - by Seanh, started: 07-13-2001, last post: 2002-02-08 14:45:40 CET)
So, exactly how cheap can one get by stroking a 2.8 -> 3.1? I can get me a 2.8 from an 88 Beretta, redo the upper end with Fiero intake and heads, ported manifolds. Then how much else is needed to acheive 3.1 (or 3.2 if we overbore it, probally will)? Wheres the cheapest place to get these...

Fuel Pump "part" question. 97 Lumina 3.1   (Archive: TD&Q - by Raydar, started: 11-09-2001, last post: 2002-02-08 14:48:56 CET)
Yeah. I know it's off topic. Just this once...Friend's car. 97 Lumina. 3.1. Fuel pump went south. They're trying to tell her it's $700 to replace it. Also told her it can only be replaced as a unit with the gauge sender. Autozone even wants $300 for the part.Is it available as a separate unit like...

For those thinking of 3.1's read up   (Archive: TD&Q - by Shaun41178, started: 02-02-2000, last post: 1910-02-21 04:11:38 AMT)
I went and did a good amount of research today concerning putting 3.1 cranks in our Fiero's when rebuilding the engine. Most have told to get the crank kit 10610 from Autozone. This crank is for the 3.1 DIS ignition which means it comes with an integral disk on the crank and was used in all front...

which oil pump, 3.1 stock or 2.8 hi vol?   (Archive: TD&Q - by chameleogaz, started: 08-31-2003, last post: 2003-12-29 12:55:30 CET)
Hi again,So I'm continuing the conversion to a 3.1 engine. Before I decided to do the 3.1 conversion, I bought a high volume oil pump from the fierostore. What would be better to use on the 3.1 engine, a stock 3.1 oil pump or a 2.8 high volume pump?I'm not sure if the oil pumps are different...

Hey I am a four year Fiero owner(86 SE) and I recently burned up a rod bearing on the Autobahn. I know several of you have built up your v-6 and I plan to do the same as finances allow. I recently went back to the states on business and had my heads rebuilt for about $225. I thought that was a...

like all 84 fieros my car is plagued with a 2.5 Iron duke. this is fine and dandy for every day use but i would enjoy my car more if it had a V6. ive thought about doin a carbed 2.8, just to keep it simple. but one off my co-wokerd talked me into doin a 3.1 V6 outta 91-94 caviler or sunbird. but...

Besides moving the starter over, is there any other problems or extra steps to getting a rear wheel drive 3.1 (out of a 91 Camaro) to fit into a Fiero? This is for my daily driver, I'm building a 88 GT with t-tops, powered by a 3800 SC for fun days
